The Problem
If you've encountered an error while installing Coygo Terminal on a macOS machine with a message explaining that the app "can't be opened" and that the "software needs to be updated", you may see a message like the one above. This is because Apple requires developers to submit applications for a review process called "notarization", and some versions of Coygo Terminal may not have been reviewed yet by Apple.
The Solution
You can make a change to your system settings to allow the Coygo Terminal application to run.
Please see this Apple support article, section "How to open an app that hasn’t been notarized or is from an unidentified developer" for more information: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491.
Step 1 - Go to your "Security & Privacy" settings
Go to your "Security & Privacy" settings.
Step 2 - Allow apps from "App Store and identified developers"
Set the "Allow apps downloaded from:" setting to "App Store and identified developers". This will allow your machine to run Coygo Terminal.
Step 3 - Allow Coygo to "Open Anyways"
Now after you try to install and run Coygo Terminal, you should see a message on your "Security & Privacy" settings that "Coygo was blocked from use". You can click the "Open Anyway" button to tell your machine that the Coygo application is allowed to be run.
That's it! If you're prompted to open Finder: control-click the app in Finder, choose Open from the menu, and then click Open in the dialog that appears. Enter your admin name and password to open the app.
